ICYMI TRACK REVIEW // Celeste - Coco Blood
Words by Jess Fleming
2 EPs already under her belt, soulful singer Celeste is back with the easy listening, coming of age track ‘Coco Blood’. Living most of her life in Brighton, but now based in London, Celeste has always wanted a career in music. This passion has since seen her record at Sarm West Studios in Notting Hill and have a BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale session. Her debut performance at this year’s Glastonbury has also been a definite highlight for the artist.
Having wrote ‘Coco Blood’ a couple of years ago, it is clear that this is meaningful and important to Celeste – with the main lyrics ‘are you warm enough’ having been commented on by her as alluding to asking yourself the question, ‘are you strong enough, are you good enough’.
The pianos, strings and jazz instruments that back the track are complemented well by Celeste’s rich and soothing voice. Timeless and opulent, ‘Coco Blood’ is the perfect song for a mellow chilled out day, or for sipping cocktails at a glamourous bar. It’s no wonder she has had a month long residency at Laylow – a member’s only club based in Notting Hill that is popular with celebs such as Pixie Geldof, Guy Ritchie, and Victoria and David Beckham.
With a likeness to Amy Winehouse, be sure to check out Celeste’s Mahogany Session of other track ‘Daydreaming’ to see the full power and beauty of her vocal talents.
