ICYMI TRACK REVIEW // Cara Hammond - Good Times
Words by Chloe Lewis
22 year old songstress Cara Hammond is back with perhaps the funkiest song of 2019, brand new single Good Times.
Focusing on the end of a relationship, Cara wastes no time feeling sad on her brand new track, instead choosing to combine her gorgeous soulful voice with an infectious beat that you can’t help but dance to. It’s the perfect song for anyone who might be dealing with a break up, starting off pretty minimally and building up into a huge dancey crescendo.
Heavily influenced by artists such as Dua Lipa and Amy Winehouse, Cara looks like she’s on track to follow in their footsteps, despite only graduating from Leeds College of Music two years ago. In the short time she’s been on the scene, Cara has conquered all manner of genres, and it appears that Good Times is her latest feat.
With its R’n’B vibes giving it a largely nostalgic 00’s feel, Good Times is a lot different to Cara’s previous singles, including the jazz-infused No, floaty ballad How I Feel and summery anthem Try to Love You, showcasing her genre-spanning talent as her music appears to go from strength to strength. With all the ingredients to be the newest pop sensation, it won’t be long until she’s topping charts with her unique brand of girl power. Good Times is another one that’s perfect for a summer playlist, so get your ears around it immediately for some… good times!
